Is there a way to make the logged-in user watch/follow a repository/user through button click in add-on

I'm currently working on a static add-on that displays the trending repositories in a list.

Is there anyway to add functionality like 'Add to Watch' button or 'Follow the repo' button to make the currently logged in user watch/follow through click on button.

As of now, we have to go to ex; bitbucket.com/pypy/pypy and click on watch button on top right corner. I would like to bring the functionality of it inside the addon profileTab view.

Some one asked similar question for Confluence here. I don't think it got any answers.

There are APIs to start watching repos and so you should be able to add a "watch" button to your static Connect add-on page that hits that API.
