Is there a way to hide a standard field from Edit-Issue screen according to custom conditions?

Nadia Sokolova January 9, 2012

I need to add visibility rules to show or hide a field on the Edit-Issue screen. This is NOT a custom field, just a standard one (Original/Remaining Estimate). I want it to be showed only if current user's group have some custom permissions.

Does anyone know the solutions?

No, Jira doesn't do field level security.

See https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/jra-1330 for a long discussion which includes all the work-arounds, code-hacks and pointers to plugins that are worth looking at in order to do it.

For your specific field, the best thing is not to give that group the Schedule Issues permission, or Log Work permission, can't remember which one.

For the general case you can easily hide fields or make them readonly when users are not in a specific group using the behaviours plugin.
