Using Confluence 3.5:
One of my departments has asked that the pages in the "Sandbox" space (for general experimentation) be excluded from searches.
Both Livesearch (from Atlassian) and the Adaptivist Advanced search have ways to limit search to a particular space, but not to exclude a particular space. Is there any other way to do this?
Thanks, R.M.

As @Maggie Modersohn 's solution is a paid plugin, is there a free alternative?
Targeted Search allows you to specify which spaces you want to search. You can request access to the beta here: www.brikit.com/targeted-search

The Content Survey Plugin allows specifying a bunch of spaces, but it's not excluding a space. For you, I think you'd want to extend the v2 search API like this:
https://developer.atlassian.com/display/CONFDEV/Searching+using+the+V2+Search+API
You'd get the results, then add logic to iterate through the results and strip out any results in the test space.
