Is there a way to automatically release a Fix Version based on release date?

Basically just as above. I can't find any built in way of doing this, is there any kind of plugin etc which I can use to automatically release versions as soon as their release date comes up?

Thanks in advance

The system does not provide means to do this out of box.

But it would be trivial too write a plugin that uses:

* JIRA Scheduler / Services
* VersionService -

To run on a nightly basis, find Versions that "release" today, and move them into release.

Thanks for the response. You say that it would be too trivial to write a plugin to accomplish this, how would you suggest implementing these calls?

//get all projects

// get all versions for project -, com.atlassian.jira.project.Project)

// check status and date isOverdue

// release versions that are unreleased with todays date

Is there a plugin I can use to run this script?

If you don't want to write your own service plugin,

You can install the script runner plugin and write a Groovy script that uses the same APIs (groovy and Java are compatible to intermix)
