Hi,
We would like to know if there is a way to export a project configuration from one JIRA instance to another instance. We don't need to export the data just only the project configuration. This is required as we usually do our customizations in the DEV environment and if the settings are satisfactory, we'll move it do production. Right now, all are done manually (settings and all) so it takes so much time especially if the project is using a lot of custom fields.

Hi,
Configuration Manager for JIRA is the ultimate configuration automation tool. It has been designed with exactly your use case in mind. It will allow you not only to move the configuration of a single project from one system to another (together with all its dependencies - schemes, custom fields, etc.) but also the configuration of the whole system - ideal for supporting dev-staging-production infrastructure as recommended by Atlassian. The add-on provides full visibility of what will be changed on the production system and how other projects will be affected (for example by modifications in shared workflow schemes). In addition to that all changes made to the production system are audit logged so they can later be reviewed.
Deploying the configuration of a project takes just three simple steps:
You can request a live demo at sales@botronsoft.com.
Or try it out for free: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.botronsoft.jira.configurationmanager.
There are a couple of plugins on the marketplace (haven't used them though):

Unfortunately, there is currently no inbuilt function in JIRA for this. See the related feature request: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-7020
However there are some options from thirdparty plugins. See this similar threads for details and other options:

Hi, Thanks for the comment. We are already aware of the functionality and have even used it before. However, the requirement is to export the project to another instance. I have voted for the request for the functionality in the jira page and I hope Atlassian will consider this installed in the future releases.
