I would like to control how the Assignee field of an issue with workflow transition actions. However, having the inline edit on the issue page allows users to circumvent workflow transitions. Is there anyway to lock down this field so only workflow transitions can edit it?

Community moderators have prevented the ability to post new answers.
it's possible, remove the field from the edit screen of the issue but have the field present in the view issue screen of the issue and during workflow transition specify the screen containing the field.
Thus now user can't edit the field but can only view the values entered on the screen during workflow transiton.
