Connect to JIRA API outside my network?

Hi,

I am using the basic authentication method to request issues in JSON format for a tool I am using, I would like to use my tool outside of my company network, unfortunately the authentication is not working outside my network. 

Could you recommend any ways to go past this?

I guess you have proxy web server like apache and it does not forward rest api requests. So probably you requests do not reach JIRA and it's not auth problem.
