Confluence mail disable error

Sanu Soman May 6, 2013

Hi All,

Please help me on below issue which I'm facing,

I'm trying to disable the send mail option from confluence in configuration level for xml restore. So for that I've added below parameters to the setenv.bat file and restarted the service,

-Datlassian.mail.senddisabled=true -Datlassian.mail.fetchdisabled=true (In the set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% section)

But after restart I cannot see any difference and mails are sending smoothly. Just want to know what was the mistake in the above parameter?

Normally in JIRA we can see that send mail is disabled from mail queue section. Don't know is same will show in confluence if we did it correctly?

Our standalone confluence version is 4.3.7 and installed on windows server.

Please help me to resolve this issue. Many thanks in advance.

Thanks,

Sanu P Soman

This explains, please refer to this documentation on how to set these when you are running Confluence as a service: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Setting+Properties+and+Options+on+Startup#SettingPropertiesandOptionsonStartup-WindowsService

Many thanks Peter for your quick response.

I'll try it out the above options and let you know.

Pardon me, actually I was outdated on this topic, this feature was implemented: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-3987

I suspect the problem here is that the settings you defined are not picked up. Could you please check JVM parameters at Confluence Admin > System Information?

Cheers,

Peter

It's not reflected on system informations..

Confluence is running as service in our case. So where I need to put?

Currently I'm setting in Confluence/bin/setenv.bat file.

Where did you put these parameters? If you are running a standalone installation (not as a windows service) then you should put this in the <CONFLUENCE-INSTALL>/bin/setenv.bat file.

Hi,

Actually there is a feature request to implement the same for Confluence: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-10004, but generally it is available for JIRA: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Restoring+Data#RestoringData-1.Disablingemailsending/receiving

You can simply disable email sending by removing the mail server at Confluence Admin, is that not an appropriate solution for you?

Kind regards,

Peter

I'm going to perform xml(production data) restore option on my dev server. So for this I want to disable emails.. I guess if we remove mail configurations and perform xml restore then anyhow mails will be generate becasue the production conflucene configured with mail server and that is already refectled on xml data.

So what I will do in this case?
