Anyone knows of a way to categorize links?

Dominic Giroux October 11, 2015

What I would like to do is link support tickets to application and server inventories.  If I define applications as an issue type, and server as another issue type, I would then like to relate a support issue to 0..N applications and 0..N servers.  If I do this with the regular linker, even with customized link relationships, it's all mixed up together.

Ideally, what I would like is a custom linker field that I can add to my issues, and that displays / allows link by "category".  I would use the "normal" linker to relate to other issues, but use a custom linker to display related servers, and a custom linker to replay related applications.

Anyone knows of an add-on that allows that?

This might be hard to do with custom link types as they are global and too many can be cumbersome for a ticket. Instead you may consider using your own labels to accomplish this if you want. That way when you run reports or do a search you can use key words (like server-web-123).

Here is a link on labels: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/labeling-an-issue-218276882.html

Also for link types themselves here is link that will help you with configuring link types but they are global: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/configuring-issue-linking-185729455.html
