Maintenance and cleanup of old plans

Dave Cuff February 9, 2021

Hi,

How do I see when last a Plan was accessed.  I want to be able to cleanup plans that are no longer being used.

Any guidance will be appreciated

Hi Dave,

The best option would be - when last something was updated via the plan

If that is a bit tricky - at least be able to see when a plan was last viewed.

It would be even better if there was a way of seeing who has accessed and created a plan so that we know who to follow-up with if we want to enquire to see if the plan is still valid.

Another option is giving us the ability to remove access to view a particular plan and see who complains.  Then if we can de-activate the plan and "archive" it would be useful.  ie remove from the list of plans available when users go into "View Plans"

Thanks @Dave Cuff ... when we've prototyped updates here we've also used the "last committed" as an indicator. We also looked at showing who that committer was. There's not really the concept of plan "owner" but we would also plan to show who created the plan and when.

It is currently possible to remove both view and edit access from plans. You can do this at a plan level but you can also do this at a global level using security groups (although that might be quite an extreme approach, it would probably quickly get you a list of people accessing any plan at all!)

Updating the view plans page is definitely something I'd be keen on us doing, but it's unfortunately quite far down our priority list at the moment.

Dave

Hi @Dave Cuff ,

At the moment there's no easy way of doing this in the interface but it's something we've looked into in the past. Out of interest, how would you define a plan that is no longer being used? Is that based on views, scenario changes, commits, configuration edits?

As we look at this it would be useful to know when someone would consider a plan no longer being used. Additionally is there any other metadata that would help you manage plans?

Regards,

Dave
