It looks like Java 6 SE has had an EOL extension until Nov 2012 so it's taken the pressure off from a support perspective.

The only thing that I can say is that we're busy with it, but unfortunately it's not ready yet. The EOL for Java 6 got extended till November 2012 and it's expected to be extended again. Keep an eye on blogs.atlassian.com for more news around Java 7 when it's ready.
