I am new to Zephyr for jira, and want to manage my test cases, suggest an approach.

This is a pretty broad question and I don't think that is Zephyr related. Zephyr is the tool which you will use to write the tests, and it provides you certain functionalities (like grouping in folders, using custom fields etc). I think that google would be your main source of "how to write good test cases".
