Sergio Benso May 7, 2020

We need to build a query to filter all the stories assigned to a user, including the sub-tasks of the stories (whether they are assigned to the user or not).
We use:
assignee = USER1
but this query doesn't show us the sub-tasks, that being related to the stories assigned to USER1, are assigned to other users.

Thank you very much!

Hi Sergio,

Sadly you cannot achieve the desired search using standard features on Jira, you must go for a third-party app instead. Using i.e. JQL Booster Pack you can type the following:

1) All the stories assigned to a user, including the sub-tasks of the stories (whether they are assigned to the user or not).

type = Story AND assignee = "your_user" OR issue IN subtasksOf('type = Story AND assignee = "your_user"')

(*) Note that this is just an example, you must tune above query to fit your needs.

Using this app you can also query other issues relations, check:

Hope this helps you to create awesome queries <3

Hi @Sergio Benso

You will need an addon like Scriptrunner that will give you more JQL function.

Thank you very much for your contribution, but I don't have permission to install addons

type = Story AND

( assignee = [insertUserIdHere] OR (issueFunction in subtasksOf("assignee =[INsertTheSameUserIdHere]")) )

Thank you very much.
I will propose to the administrators of my organization to install some additional package.
