How to automatically transition parent issue when ONE subtask is closed

Jennie Peleback February 17, 2022

We have a workflow for an Issue type that creates one Parent issue and a number of subtasks (automatically created).
I am trying (with Bob Swifts add ons) to transition the parent to a new status when one specific subtask is closed, is that possible?

I know it's doable when ALL subtasks are closed but I would like an automatically status change of the parent when just one specific subtask is closed

Hi @Jennie Peleback ,

I'm not sure which Bob Swift app you are thinking of, but you can certainly use a "Transition Related Issue(s)" post-function from our JMWE app to transition the parent issue when a sub-task is closed. It's actually easier to do this when one sub-task is closed than when all sub-tasks are closed - you just don't need any condition on other sub-tasks being closed.

Hi @David Fischer

Thanks!
Ah, is it this app you are referring to?
"Jira Misc Workflow Extensions (JMWE)"

We don't have that :-(

I was thinking of being able to use "Linked transition (JSU)" or perhaps "Update on transition" but haven't gotten it to work

I'll check out the JMWE :-)
