when trying to tag a person in a comment in a Jira ticket, after typing "@" on one hand I see a list of plausible people open up, but when I start typing a person's name, it just triggers all kinds of actions on the ticket. Typing "w" toggles whether I'm watching the ticket, typing "a" changes the assignee.. I just want to be able to type a name and be able to select it. I'm using a Mac if it helps.
The @ is used to mention other users - you also need to make sure that those users are under a group that has Browse users and groups global permission first. The mentioned w and a keys are the shortcuts for these actions.
