When can we see 4th Level of Hirrarchies in JIRA Projects

Suyash Shinde February 16, 2024

Hi Team,

I wish to see a  4 level hierrachy in JIRA setup because there are Projects who need more classification in their backlog.

  • EPIC
    • Features
      • Story
        • Sub-Task

This is what is needed the above structure in JIRA, we dont have Features right now.

I do know we have Initiatives in Advance Roadmap but it is not helping us as it is not added in normal backlog to filter out Initiatives just like we do for EPics and Versions, even the normal timeline dont have such filters of Initatives.

Do let me know are we working on such 4th Level hierrarchy. As I see lot of people is asking the same on Internet but I dont see anything out yet. So what is the plan ?

Hello,

You can create that hierarchy by using the configuration of the Issue type hierarchy on :

Config --> Products --> Plans --> Hierarchy Configuration.

Here you can configure your hierarchy level.

Then you need to change the name of the Epic issue type to Feature on

Config --> Issue Types --> Epic

And that's it. this is a technical description. You need to review the details, maybe you need to do a migration,  change definitions, change the workflow, etc.

I wish you the best.
