I’m using a Jira Cloud instance and need clarification on filtering behavior.
We have multiple boards, and for each board, we have already created a separate JQL filter.
Our requirement is that the List view and “All work” should display issues only based on the current board’s filter, not all issues from the project.
Currently, List and All work show issues beyond the board scope.
Could you please confirm:
Is it possible to make List view and All work respect the current board filter?
If yes, what is the correct way to configure this in Jira Cloud?
If not, is there any recommended workaround or best practice?
Please let me know if this is expected behavior or if additional configuration is required.
Thanks in advance for your guidance.
Hello,
Welcome to community :)
Please find details below
Is it possible to make List view and All work respect the current board filter?
No, this is expected behavior.
In Jira Cloud:
The board (Scrum/Kanban) uses its own board filter (JQL).
The List view and All work views are project‑level views, and by default they:
are not tied to a particular board, and therefore do not automatically use the board’s JQL filter, even if the board lives in that same project. So what you’re seeing (List / All work showing issues beyond the board scope) matches current design.
Thank You,
Prachi
Thank you @Prachi Bolar for confirming that my answer was correct by essentially just re-stating what I had said, but just adding a little bit more detail.

Nope

Nope.
...or best practice?
I think that the best practice would be to accept that the List and All Work views are specifically designed to show all Work Items in the Project.
Please let me know if this is expected behaviour
It is, and has been so for something like 20 years.
Thanks in advance
My pleasure in retrospect

Hello @Naresh Sampath ,
Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community :)
This is an expected behaviour. A board filter applies only to the board view. Rest of the attributes such as List view and All work do not inherit the board’s JQL filter. Instead, these views operate at the project level and, by design, display all issues in the project unless manually filtered.
Thank you
