Database tag colors aren't solid.

We recently had an update to our Confluence platform, and both several colleagues and I noticed that the tags in the database tool are no longer solid and instead have the colors as the outline.  This makes it harder to visually identify the colors, making Confluence less effective for doing our jobs.  Can this be reverted?  This is what we see now:

This is an intentional design change as part of Atlassian's ongoing UI updates aligned with their Atlassian Design System. The tags in Confluence databases were changed from solid/filled colors to outlined/bordered styles for accessibility and visual consistency across the platform.

Unfortunately, there's currently no setting to revert to the previous solid-fill style — this is a platform-wide change, not a per-user or per-site option.

What you can do:

• Search jira.atlassian.com for an existing feature request — if one exists, vote and watch it to increase visibility
• If there's no existing ticket, create a new Suggestion under the CONFCLOUD project requesting the option to use solid-fill tag colors in databases
• Share the ticket link here so others experiencing the same issue can vote on it as well

The more votes the request gets, the more likely it will be prioritized by the Confluence team.

While I appreciate the response and the intention behind the design choice, the responses here indicate that the intention has effects that are off-putting or actively discouraging people from using Confluence to the full potential.  A design choice that makes your product more difficult to use, is probably a choice I wouldn't make.

That said, I'll do as you suggest as I have no other options, but may have to look to other products to fill this gap that Atlassian created.

So, it appears that my tags are once again solid.  Not sure what changed, but I'm happy to have things back to the way they were.

Out of curiosity, what are you using these database tags to represent?

Are they mainly statuses like Completed / Not Completed, or do you use colors to distinguish things like categories, permissions, priorities or other metadata?

I’m asking because it sounds like the color itself is an important part of how your team scans and works with the data, rather than just a cosmetic preference.

Is this still the case? I've checked a couple of our instances and we still have solid colors.

Although the rollout isn't immediate for all instances, it might be that this will be deployed in the next week on our sites as well.

As for what Cristian said, to raise a ticket, you'd need to be an admin on a paid plan of Confluence to reach out to Atlassian Support and explain the issue/requirement. Their team can take a look at it and potentially create a new suggestion. End users cannot create new feature requests for cloud products on JAC.

I agree that this change can affect usability, especially for teams that rely on color for quickly scanning large databases. While the new design may improve consistency with the overall UI, having an option to choose between outlined and solid tags would be a good compromise. That way, each team could use the style that best fits their workflow without impacting accessibility or the default design.
