Sync a project between two Jira instances

casamoda March 26, 2015

I would like to synchronize a JIRA project through two instances. One of which is in the cloud whilst the other is a server installation. The rights management needs to ensure that you can't access the other instance from any second project. It would be great if any issue could be completely in sync but we'd need at least the comments and time tracking in sync.

It is definitely possible to set up a real-time sync between Jira Server and Cloud.

We are the developers of the Exalate app.

You'll be able to keep any issue data in sync. This will be comments, but also any other issue data you prefer.

You'll be able to easily customize exactly what you'd like to sync and who you'd like to sync it with. Both teams can keep their autonomy when working on the project.

You could have a closer look at Backbone Issue Sync for JIRA.

With Backbone you can keep JIRA server and JIRA cloud projects in sync (if Backbone is installed on both of the JIRA systems) without giving the users direct access to the other instance.
Syncing comments can be set up easily via the Backbone UI and you can even enrich those comments with additional information.

Feel free to check it out in the Atlassian Marketplace using a free 30-day trial license, or reach out to us directly if you have any further questions - I'll be happy to discuss your use case smile

Cheers,
Nils

Hi,

I'm from Deviniti team.

You can use existing solution to synchronize multiple Jira instances like IssueSYNC. It works for:
- cloud
- server
- data center deployments and supports different Jira version 6, 7, 8 and Jira editions
- Core
- Software
- Service Desk.

If you have questions, please contact us.

Cheers,
Łukasz

Hello there,

You can follow the steps available on How to Merge Two JIRA Cloud Instances. Once you have the two projects on the same server instance, you can migrate the issues to the same project (bulk edit).

Thanks and regards,

Take a look at ConnectAll. You can use it to sync projects with appropriate field/value mappings.

Hi Paula,

thanks for your quick reply. It appears as if we have a slight misunderstanding. We don't wish to merge the two instances. We'd like to keep a single project in sync.

Regards

Amir
